What changes after installation?

Batteries and settings are worth a closer look.

Fewer battery changes.

The DogWatch collars Superior installs use replaceable batteries lasting about two years. Dave can supply replacements, or explain the correct type to buy elsewhere. Check your receiver’s indicator and replacement instructions.

Invisible Fence recommends replacing Power Cap batteries every three months. Its standard delivery plan supplies four per year, with other delivery frequencies available. That is a different maintenance schedule; compare actual battery prices for the collars in your quotes.

Settings you can adjust.

Superior’s DogWatch receiver settings are owner-adjustable. Dave starts low during training and shows you how to make suitable changes, so a routine setting adjustment does not require a technician visit.

For an Invisible Fence quote, ask the provider to demonstrate the controls on that model. Confirm what you can adjust, when professional help is needed, and whether a visit carries a charge.

Get a quote over the phone.

Dave uses modern mapping tools and apps to review your property and talk through the boundary, equipment, and number of dogs. He can give you a quote over the phone, so you don’t need an in-person sales appointment to find out what your fence would cost.

When comparing with Invisible Fence, ask your local provider whether a home consultation is required for a quote and what it includes. Take time to review the written scope and ongoing costs before deciding.

Compare the full cost of ownership

A useful comparison puts the same yard, number of dogs, and support needs in both quotes. Ask each provider:

  • Which transmitter and receiver will you install, and what battery does each collar use?
  • What will batteries, additional collars, and routine service cost?
  • Can I change receiver settings myself, and who helps if training stalls?
  • Which parts and installation work are covered, for how long, and with what exclusions or visit charges?

Long-term costs depend on battery prices, receiver models, service needs, and any plans you choose. See Superior’s pricing information and our warranty guidance before comparing written quotes.

Equipment matters. So does the person supporting it.

Superior is locally owned and serves Richmond and Central Virginia. Dave plans the boundary, installs DogWatch equipment, and runs the first training session with you. You continue the daily practice; training help is free for the first year if you need him to return.

Invisible Fence may fit you if you already have compatible equipment and a provider you trust. Ask about repair or keeping a working system before replacing it. If you need service outside our region, compare providers available at that address.

Our Invisible Fence alternative in Richmond page explains the local service side. Already have a system that needs attention? See repair options for an existing Invisible Fence system.
